Nanaimo RCMP are hunting a man who allegedly confined, assaulted and threatened a woman for almost 15 hours.

The attack happened Monday in a north Nanaimo home where Mounties say an 18-year-old woman was kicked, punched and threatened by a 20-year-old man.

The prolonged assault ended only when the attacker decided the woman could leave, said RCMP spokesman Const. Gary O'Brien.

The woman, who was injured but did not require hospitalization, contacted police Monday afternoon.

RCMP have issued a warrant for Tyler Eric Koch, of Nanaimo, on charges of assault, uttering threats, unlawful confinement and breach of probation.

Koch is considered dangerous and may be armed with a knife, O'Brien said. Koch is six-foot-one, 230 pounds with brown eyes and short brown hair.

Anyone who sees him should not approach him but call 911 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
