A 47-year-old Duncan man was airlifted to Victoria General Hospital after a stabbing incident that police are treating as an attempted murder.
He was initially taken to Cowichan District Hospital before being sent to Victoria.
North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP were called Tuesday about 4:15 p.m. to a popular summer swimming area on the Cowichan River, next to a trestle known to locals as the Black Bridge, and found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to his chest and abdomen.
A 42-year-old woman was arrested nearby, and two more females were later brought into custody, as well.
The RCMP dive team is helping with efforts to find evidence at the stabbing scene.
