Fights, broken windows keep police busy

Mar 17 2012

Victoria police spent a busy Thursday night and Friday morning responding to fights and dealing with foolish behaviour.

The culmination came about 12:30 a.m. Friday when a man broke a window at Second Slice Pizza on Douglas Street, near Yates. Two people inside were injured by the glass.

An hour earlier, police received reports of several people fighting in the 3000-block of Douglas Street, just south of Finlayson Street.

At 1:30 a.m., fights were reported at the Carlton Club in Esquimalt and at Sopranos Bar and Grill on Caledonia Avenue. Police arriving at the Carlton Club found that the combatants had dispersed and ambulance paramedics were tending to a man with cut on his head.

The only arrest of note involved the 26-year-old man who broke the window. He is facing a charge of mischief.
