Cyclist, 52, dies in hospital

A 52-year-old cyclist who suffered a severe head injury after colliding with a jogger in Qualicum Beach Saturday has died in Victoria General Hospital. The 38-year-old jogger was taken to Nanaimo for treatment of facial injuries and released. The cyclist was airlifted to VGH and placed on life support.
The cyclist was not wearing a helmet.
The identity of the cyclist, a Qualicum Beach man, was initially unknown but the Oceanside RCMP were later contacted by his family. His name has not been released.
