Man in standoff may face charges
Mar 27 2012
A 27-year-old man who caused a police standoff in Duncan Sunday morning is being investigated for weapons charges, RCMP said.
The man surrendered peacefully around 10 a.m., more than four hours after Mounties dressed in tactical gear surrounded the home at 5110 Trans-Canada Hwy. on the Duncan First Nation reserve.
North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP were called after a domestic dispute, and Mounties took extra precaution because they believed the man owned a firearm.
Nine family members were evacuated and no one was injured.
After the man surrendered, he was taken to police headquarters while investigators seized a firearm from the home.
