RCMP issue warning after teens approached by men

Apr 06 2012

Nanaimo RCMP are warning the public after two teenage girls were approached by older men.

An 18-year-old woman at the Tim Horton's kiosk in Woodgrove Centre mall at 7: 30 p.m. on March 29 was asked by a strange man to make a pornographic movie.

She told him no and walked away, police said.

On Tuesday at 9 a.m., a man in a newer grey truck asked a 14 year-old girl at the corner of Seventh Street and Bruce Avenue if she wanted to smoke marijuana.

She refused, but he offered to buy her some cigarettes, police said. She met him later that afternoon, received the cigarettes and walked away.

The suspect in the first case is described as white, possibly of Middle Eastern descent. He is five foot nine, had rough skin and wore a dark blue rain jacket.

The suspect in the second case is described as Asian, in his mid30s, chubby and wearing sunglasses and a hat.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 2507542345 or Crime Stoppers at 1800222-8477.
