Two convicts who escaped from detention facilities in Victoria and Nanaimo have been returned to jail.
Both were captured without incident on April 5, in different incidents.
Howard Soloman O'Soup, 34, a Nanaimo Regional Correctional Centre inmate who gave B.C.
Corrections officers the slip while he was being escorted to a treatment meeting on March 29, was arrested at a hotel in Surrey after police received a tip, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman Const. Gary O'Brien said.
Guy Gene Tomoff, 50, of Ladysmith, who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant since walking away from his halfway house on Jan. 27, was arrested by Victoria police and canine officers at a parking lot in Esquimalt.
Tomoff was serving time for tying up and robbing a woman.
"We are extremely happy to have Tomoff back in custody," said Victoria police spokesman Const. Mike Russell. "His history of violence and breaching his court-ordered conditions caused us concern."
