Woman arrested in knife attack on partner in Victoria

Apr 27 2012

Victoria police arrested a 30-year-old woman after she allegedly stabbed her partner with a kitchen knife late Thursday night.

The victim, a 25-year-old man, called police just before midnight saying he'd been stabbed by his partner, said Staff Sgt. Gord Cochrane.

Officers rushed to the apartment unit in the 2600-block of Prior Street and found the man bleeding from the chest. They did chest compressions until paramedics could arrive. The man was taken to Victoria General Hospital and later transferred to Royal Jubilee, where he remains in stable condition.

The woman was arrested in the suite and a knife was seized, Cochrane said.

The two live in the suite together, and police are still investigating what led to the attack.

The woman will appear in court this morning charged with assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon.
