A Victoria man has been convicted of aggravated assault for kicking his drunken friend in the abdomen with steel-toed boots.
Jonahs Farrell, 27, was convicted of assaulting Elliot Peebles on Oct. 7, 2010. Farrell will return to Victoria provincial court May 2 to set a date for sentencing.
When Farrell asked an intoxicated Peebles to leave his house, Peebles grabbed him around the neck, Crown prosecutor Jess Patterson told the court. Farrell, who was also intoxicated, threw Peebles to the ground, then kicked him with steel-toed boots.
Peebles had life-threatening injuries to his abdomen. He spent three weeks in hospital and lost nine kilograms and his job, noted Judge Judith Kay.
