High school track and field championships to go ahead despite teachers' action
May 04 2012
The B.C. high school track and field championships will go ahead after all, B.C. School Sports announced Thursday.
The event had been in jeopardy because of teachers' decision to stop volunteering in protest against Bill 22.
But the governing body for high school athletics confirmed that the championships would be held at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby June 1-2 as planned.
Bill 22 forced an end to teachers' job action and altered rules governing the size of classes and the number of special-needs students in each class.
