Woman charged in daylight jewelry heist released
May 04 2012
A woman arrested after a brazen daylight robbery of a Victoria jewelry store has been released from custody.
Amanda Schier is charged with robbery and possession of property obtained by crime. She appeared by video Thursday in Victoria provincial court from the Alouette Correction Centre for Women in Maple Ridge. Schier was released on conditions and ordered not to have any contact with Michael Werner or Dominic Wandolo.
Her case has been adjourned until May 24. On April 26, two men released pepper-spray inside Paul Mara Jewellers, at the corner of Fort and Broughton streets, smashed display cases and ran off with jewelry.
Bystanders directed police officers to the Bedford Regency Hotel, where two men and a woman were found. The hotel was locked down.
Police arrested the woman immediately. The two men had crawled were hiding on the roof. Officers caught up to the two men on the roof and put them into the bucket of a waiting aerial fire truck for them to be taken down to the street.
