May 24 2012
An information session to help special-needs students make the transition to life after high school will be held today at the S.J. Willis Education Centre at 923 Topaz Ave.
Students, parents, teachers and other interested individuals are all invited to attend the event, which is being held from 6: 30 to 8: 30 p.m.
The Victoria Confederation of Parent Advisory Councils has arranged for presentations from groups including the disability-resource centres at both the University of Victoria and Camosun College, the Garth Homer Society, the Spectrum Youth Project, the Ministry of Social Development and others. Topics include academic support and assisted living.
Students who have already made the transition from high school will also speak about their experiences.
