Cycling fest wheels to top of magazine's summer list
Jun 06 2012
The Victoria International Cycling Festival is one of North America's 10 best summer festivals, according to a leading outdoor sports magazine.
Outside magazine picked the Victoria event for a list that also included Tall Ships in Nova Scotia, the Lumberjack World Championships in Wisconsin, the Wooden Boat Festival in Washington, the Wanderlust Festival in Vermont and Whistler's Crankworx mountain bike festival.
The magazine, which has a circulation of more than 678,000, appeared impressed with the Victoria cycling festival's wide range of month-long activities, including a free-ride jump competition on a floating barge in the Inner Harbour.
"A three-week rolling party with races, rollerjams, bike art, and, of course, thumping outdoor bass and good beer," reads a story on the magazine's website.
The Victoria International Cycling festival culminates with Ryder Hesjedal's Tour de Victoria on June 24.
