Medical issue may have caused crash, police say

Jun 14 2012

Saanich police believe a 79yearold man might have suffered from a medical issue before his car sheared off a power pole and flipped over Wednesday afternoon.

The man was on a downhill slope on Cadboro Bay Road, near Bermuda Place, when the incident occurred. He was headed in the direction of Cadboro Bay Village.

"He was bleeding but got himself out of the car," said Saanich police Sgt. Dean Jantzen. Ambulance paramedics transported the man to hospital for observation.

Jantzen said the crash caused a significant traffic tie-up because wires were knocked down. B.C.

Hydro crews stayed at the scene after police had left to work on replacing the pole.
