Hikers stranded in canyon
Jun 23 2012
Two hikers exploring Niagara Canyon in Goldstream Park ran into trouble on Friday and called Langford firefighters for help.
"Our rope rescue people are up there assisting them down because with the rain it's a little bit treacherous," said Langford Fire Chief Bob Beckett at 2 p.m. Friday.
The hikers called for help "because they were reluctant to move any further," Beckett said.
The fire department has a team trained in rope rescues and is often called to get people off Mount Finlayson and other area hills. It didn't appear that either hiker was injured, Beckett said.
