RCMP hope honour will lead to return of urn
Jul 12 2012
A View Royal family lost jewelry worth $10,000 in a burglary, but they're hoping to get something worth even more back: an urn containing ashes of a family member.
The urn was stolen from the mantle of a View Royal home Monday between midnight and 8 a.m. About $10,000 worth of jewelry was taken from a safe in the master bedroom.
"We're hoping that somebody from the public - anybody, even crooks - who know something - will give us a call," said West Shore RCMP Sgt. Max Fossum.
"Because there's even honour among thieves."
There was no one at home at the time of the break-in and there are no suspects.
Fossum recommended hiding safes in a place other than the master bedroom.
"Ninety per cent of people with safes always put it in the same spot," he said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
