A 37-year-old View Royal motorcyclist was taken to hospital as a precaution Monday night after he was thrown from his bike in a collision allegedly caused by an impaired driver.
The collision occurred just before 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Colville Road and Lampson Street in Esquimalt.
The motorcyclist was stopped to turn westbound onto Colville Road when he was rear-ended by a Hyundai coupe, according to Victoria police.
A witness told police the driver didn’t appear to see the motorcycle and did not alter her speed before slamming into the motorcyclist.
Esquimalt fire and paramedics gave first aid, but the motorcyclist did not appear to have serious injuries, police said.
