A 75-year-old Victoria man was found dead in the Gorge Waterway on Saturday afternoon.
Victoria police received a report about 3:30 p.m. of a body floating face-down near the Gorge Pointe condominium complex at 1085 Tillicum Rd.
Acting Sgt. Paul Brookes said it appeared the man fell into the water. The cause of death was not yet known.
Coroner Larry Crawford said the autopsy and investigation, including a look into the man’s medical history, would be conducted early next week.
Police said the man had Alzheimer’s disease.
A condo resident, who didn’t want to give her name, said the man’s wife came home to find her husband was missing. Other residents helped look for him, she said.
Brookes said the man’s wife searched for about an hour before the body was found at the bottom of the bank near the condo’s gazebo.
