A woman broke her leg jumping from a second-storey balcony to escape a knife attack on Saturday morning.
Victoria police responded to the 1300 block of Stanley Avenue about 7:45 a.m. after someone reported that a woman had fallen from the second floor of an apartment building.
The woman told police she had jumped to avoid a man with a knife.
She was taken to hospital, where she was treated for minor head injuries and a broken leg. Police said she did not sustain any knife wounds.
A man is in custody, and several charges related to the incident are pending, according to Staff Sgt. Darren Laur.
