A 16-year-old Saanich youth was arrested early Thursday morning and will appear in provincial court today after a sexual assault in a home on Borden Street.
"Investigators will be recommending multiple charges, including break and enter and sexual assault," said Saanich Police Det. Sgt. Paul Smith.
Police responded to a interrupted 911 call at 3: 15 Thursday morning. While police were on their way to the area, dispatchers were able to make contact with the female caller, who said a male had broken into her home and sexually assaulted her.
The woman, who did not know her attacker, fought off the male. The suspect fled on foot as police arrived at the scene.
Police dog teams, detectives and forensic identification teams were called to the area.
After an investigation, police identified and arrested a 16-year-old youth, Smith said.
The attack appears to be an isolated incident and there is no immediate danger to the general public, said a police statement.
