Police dog helps recover wallet stolen in Duncan
Sep 22 2012
Maybe it was the smell of money that led Tony the police dog to his quest.
Tony and his talented nose, along with his handler, were able to find a missing wallet after a suspected thief was caught in Duncan this week. The man didn't have the wallet he was believed to have stolen, but Tony and the handler retraced his path and found it in some bushes. The wallet's contents were also found, spread over a wide area.
The wallet was plucked from a vehicle, and a man was seen fleeing the scene. Witnesses were able to provide North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP with a solid description.
Tony was brought in to help with the search, and followed a track to where a number of officers had already detained a man.
Robert Anthony Oset, a 34-year-old Duncan man, has been charged with theft under $5,000.
