Thieves break through wall to get at Apple products

Thieves could be illegally selling stolen Apple computer products worth a combined total of about $40,000, Saanich police say.
IPads, MacBooks and Mac Mini computers were stolen from Westworld Computers on Douglas Street in Victoria around 3: 15 a.m. Monday after thieves broke through the wall of a neighbouring business.
A dozen alarms were set off in the building at Douglas Street near Tolmie Avenue, but by then, it was too late.
"In this case, they went into an empty store and bashed their way through," said Sgt. Dean Jantzen of Saanich police.
This was the second time people have entered the store this way, so the latest burglars had to remove about 50 screws to get through a reinforced wall.
"They were in there for a good length of time," Jantzen said.
Police also responded to a break-in attempt at Best Buy at Uptown Centre early Sunday.
Officers found the front door pried open and an indication that someone had tampered with the security gate.
Saanich police ask anyone aware of Apple products for sale at reduced rates to call them at 250-475-4321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
