More than 170,000 Canadians raised an estimated $30 million for breast cancer research Sunday in this year’s national Run for the Cure fundraiser.
In Victoria, breast cancer survivors gathered with friends and family for the annual Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure.
The Victoria event raised about $486,500 toward the B.C./Yukon regional total of $3.15 million.
Money raised allows the foundation to invest in groundbreaking research in breast cancer prevention, early diagnosis and treatment.
“Together, with the funds raised, we are making significant and meaningful steps toward our vision of creating a future without breast cancer,” said Deborah Dubenofsky, chairwoman of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation national board.
