Oct 03 2012
After escaping one arrest late Monday night, a man wanted on two charges of assault in Coquitlam was arrested at a Victoria hotel early Tuesday morning.
The 32-year-old Coquitlam man would have been arrested after a traffic stop on Burnside Road on Monday night, but instead he sped away from the Victoria police officer who had pulled him over.
Driving a BMW sedan, the man drew attention from other drivers who reported his high speeds to police.
The officer then tracked the man to the Red Lion Inn on Douglas Street, where the man had rented a room. Officers arrested him around 1:30 a.m.
The man now faces new charges of dangerous driving, flight from police, obstruction and breach of recognizance.
He was held for court late Tuesday and police are co-ordinating his return to Coquitlam RCMP.
