Man involved in three crashes in less than six hours

Oct 10 2012

Nanaimo RCMP were kept busy Monday by a male motorist who was involved in three separate crashes, two requiring police attendance.

The first crash was a minor collision in Parksville at 9: 30 a.m. on Resort Road. About two hours later, Nanaimo RCMP were called to Lawlor Road in Nanaimo when two pickup trucks collided. Neither driver was injured.

Officers discovered the driver believed to have caused the crash had an expired driver's licence and he was given a ticket for $276. Police learned that a medical condition may have caused the man to drive erratically. The man promised not to drive his car away from the scene.

At 2: 40 p.m., Nanaimo RCMP were called to a third crash 50 metres from the second one. The male driver, who had not yet renewed his licence, had backed into a car. He was given another ticket for driving without a licence and his vehicle was towed.
