One Saanich police officer was punched in the face while making an arrest and a second officer suffered severe tendon damage in his hand during separate incidents early Saturday.
The first injury came during a short foot chase near the 1000-block of Kenneth Street, after officers were asked to break up a party just after midnight.
About 100 people were at the party, which got out of control when a large group showed up uninvited.
People stood in the streets despite being told by police to leave the area. Officers arrested a 20-year-old man, a 22-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman.
One officer injured his hand while chasing down one of the men to make the arrest. Police are still investigating.
Nearly four hours later, police handcuffed a 36-year-old man in the Glanford area for reported aggressive behaviour.
When officers removed the handcuffs, the man immediately punched one of the officers in the face. A second officer suffered several scrapes to his face while helping to contain the man. Officers took the man to hospital for a mental-health evaluation.
