UVic reaches deal with third CUPE local
Nov 03 2012
The union representing 1,500 teaching assistants, language instructors and sessionals at the University of Victoria says it has reached a tentative collective agreement with its employer.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 4163 has been without a contract for more than two years but has now become the third CUPE local at the university to reach a deal this week.
The deal is retroactive to 2010 and includes no wage increases for the first two years under the provincial government's net-zero mandate. The union says members will receive two per cent wage increases in each year of the agreement's final two years.
The union says members and the university's board of governors must still ratify the agreement.
Similar deals were reached this week with two other locals.
