Uptown to get orthopedic surgery centre, VIHA reveals

The Vancouver Island Health Authority issued a notice of intent Friday to award a contract to a new association of Victoria-area specialists in orthopedic and joint replacement called Rebalance MD.
The contract will be for three years, with an option to renew. The value of the contract will depend on the scope of service levels.
VIHA spokeswoman Suzanne Germain said all services will continue to be publicly funded with no extra charge to patients.
The Uptown centre will replace services offered at three locations, reducing duplication of services.
A date for the move to the new location will depend on negotiations. Ideally, it should occur next year, VIHA said.
