Drunk driver hits female flagperson on Douglas Street

A female flagperson was struck down by a drunk driver in the early hours of Saturday morning along Douglas Street.
Saanich police said a 28-year-old man is sobering up in custody after hitting a woman working as a flagperson in the 3200-block of Douglas Street around 5 a.m.
The woman was taken to hospital with fears of a head injury. Luckily, her helmet protected from serious harm.
The driver who hit the woman with his blue BMW blew three times the legal blood alcohol limit of 0.05. He was arrested for impaired driving and will be charged.
