Burglar wanted in Ontario arrested after theft of ring from home

Nov 09 2011

Victoria police arrested a prolific burglar from Ontario following a break-in in which a ring belonging to the homeowner's late grandmother was stolen.

Jason Drummie, 38, was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly broke into a home in the 3000 block of Josette Place on Sunday, said Const. Mike Russell.

Electronics, video games and movies were also stolen.

Drummie is wanted in Ontario on three warrants and has an extensive history of property crime, Russell said.

Police allege he had been in Victoria for a few days before returning to crime.

The stolen items were recovered and returned to the homeowner. Police also found other items that may be linked to other break-ins on the Island.

Drummie was due to appear in court Tuesday facing charges of break and enter and possession of stolen property.
