Pickup drivers injured in Island Highway crash near Robert's Lake

Two men were hospitalized after a Saturday collision on the Island Highway near Robert’s Lake.
A 36-year-old Cumberland man at the wheel of a Toyota pickup was airlifted to a Victoria-area hospital, according to a Sunday report from the Sayward RCMP and North Island Traffic Services, who responded to the call at 11 a.m.
A 29-year-old man from Victoria was in the second vehicle, a GMC Sierra pickup. He was transported by ambulance to Campbell River General Hospital and later released.
Investigators have yet to release the cause of the crash, but said alcohol likely was not a contributing factor.
Police remind drivers to drive cautiously in winter conditions. Snow was falling at the time of the accident.
