Power restored in Saanich after driver hits utility pole

Saanich police suspect the driver of the vehicle that ran into a hydro utility pole early Sunday, causing a large power outage in Saanich, was impaired.
The driver and two passengers were taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries after the vehicle crashed in the 3300 block of Richmond Road at 1:30 a.m., Saanich police said in a release.
B.C. Hydro reported that about 700 homes were affected by the outage. Power had been restored by 11 a.m.
The driver is being investigated for impaired driving.
