Oceanside RCMP seize gift wrapped marijuana
Dec 08 2011
Nothing says ho ho ho like finding two pounds of marijuana wrapped up as a Christmas gift.
That’s what Oceanside RCMP discovered Tuesday after they pulled over a known prohibited driver during a traffic stop.
Upon further investigation police found two Christmas parcels — destined for eastern Canada — containing two pounds, or 907 grams, of marijuana, said Sgt. Darrell Robertson.
A 56-year-old Parksville man is facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, police said. He was released by police to appear in Nanaimo provincial court on Jan. 25.
The same individual is before the courts from a previous incident in the Oceanside area, police said. In that case he is facing charges of: Production of a controlled substance (marijuana); possession for the purpose of trafficking; theft of electricity.
