Nanaimo dog walker grabbed by masked man

Dec 23 2011

A 20-year-old woman was rescued by her two dogs after being grabbed in an alleyway by a man wearing a gorilla mask.

The woman had taken the dogs for a walk near Piper's Pub on Hammond Bay Road in Nanaimo when a man, dressed in black and wearing a brown gorilla mask, grabbed her by the arm, RCMP said.

The dogs barked, one bit the man and he fled.

The woman called 911. Police searched the area, but could not find the man.

The incident happened about 9: 30 a.m. Wednesday. The suspect was wearing black jeans, black gloves and a black jacket. Police said he might have suffered a dog bite.

In April, a naked man wearing a gorilla mask tried to sexually assault a woman at Westwood Lake.
